EnglishThe Texas Instruments AFE 8000EVM Evaluation Module is an RF sampling transceiver platform that is synchronously configured to support up to eight transmit and ten receive (8T10R) channels simultaneously. AFE8000EVM can evaluate AFE8000 eight-channel RF sampling analog Front end (AFE), The latter features a 14-bit 12GSPS digital-to-analog converter (DAC), a 14-bit 4GSPS analog-to-digital converter (ADC), and an on-chip integrated phase-locked loop/voltage-controlled oscillator (PLL/VCO) that generates high frequency clocks for the DAC and ADC.
The TI AFE 8000EVM evaluation module can simultaneously synthesize and digitize multiple wideband signals with high dynamic range using dual band digital up and down converters in each channel.The receiving channel of the device supports on-chip digital stepping attenuator (DSA), and the transmitting channel supports DSA function. Eight JESD204B/C interface compatible serializer/deserializer transceivers with rates up to 32.5Gbps can be used to provide AFE8000 input and output via an onboard FPGA sandwich card (FMC) connector.
The AFE8000EVM contains the LMK04828 clock generator, which is used to provide a reference signal for the AFE on-chip PLL and to generate the System reference (SYSREF) signal required for the JESD204B/C protocol. Also included are options for providing ultra-low phase noise external clock solutions.
AFE8000EVM provides an efficient power management solution for the power rails required by AFE. The design can be linked to the TI Mode/acquisition card solution (TSW14J58EVM, sold separately) as well as many FPGA development kits
