STMicroelectronics' STEVAL-2STPD01 suite provides a complete hardware evaluation and development platform as well as a powerful software interface for power sharing across dual USB Type-C power ports.

     The kit demonstrates the flexibility and benefits of the STPD01 programmable synchronous step-down regulator with an I²C interface for digital MCU control. Each port provides up to 60 W of output power (20 V, 3 A) and provides voltage stabilization according to USB PD 3.0 specifications and overvoltage, overcurrent, and overtemperature event protection. The STM32G071RBT6 microcontroller with UCPD peripherals runs a dedicated firmware stack to implement power sharing logic in USB Type-C and PD dual port power adapters.

     The design includes TCPP02-M18 USB Type-C port protection for source applications and L7983 synchronous step-down switch regulators on MCU power supplies.the STSW-2STP01 suite software includes an application example that fully demonstrates the advanced USB Type-C and power capabilities of the system
