Renesas Electronics acquires Reality AI to market AIoT applications
May 17 , 20230
At present, driven by the intelligent revolution, new applications of AIoT, represented by smart home, smart security, smart city and smart connected vehicles, have broken out one after another, and the AIoT industry shows rapid development of multiple tracks. As the bottom support of intelligent terminal and networking, AIoT chip has stable and good growth characteristics. AIoT chip manufacturers actively layout the application market, in-depth research and development and provide better solutions.
Renesas Electronics, a leading provider of AIoT solutions, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Reality Analytics, Inc.(Reality AI) as an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary effective July 19, 2022, following approval by Reality AI's shareholders and subject to regulatory approvals.
Reality AI, based in Columbia, Maryland, USA, is a provider of a wide range of embedded AI and miniature machine learning (TinyML) solutions for advanced non-visual sensing in automotive, industrial and commercial products. Currently Renesas has a team of AI experts from Reality AI and an AIoT R&D Center of Excellence in Maryland, USA.
Combining Reality AI's best-in-class AI reasoning technology with Renesas Electronics' extensive MCU and MPU product portfolio will enable a seamless implementation of machine learning and signal processing. The acquisition will enable Renesas Electronics to expand its suite of tools and software products for AI applications and enhance its in-house capabilities to deliver highly optimized endpoint solutions that combine hardware and software.
It was revealed that Renesas Electronics will continue to meet the needs of customers seeking to implement AI solutions through its expanded global talent network of software engineers. Renesas will also continue to accelerate the delivery of endpoint intelligence across a wide range of IIoT(Industrial Internet of Things), consumer and automotive applications. The Renesas Electronic MCU/MPU platform with machine learning algorithms will significantly enhance system development, providing customers with a wealth of development experience to get their applications ready and help them get to market faster.
As we all know, artificial intelligence and machine learning are key catalysts that organizations use to achieve digital transformation. Cloud-based tools provide capabilities that address many of these factors, helping developers and their organizations bring deep learning applications to market faster.
While intelligent applications supporting AI are beginning to emerge, the market for deep learning tools and solutions based on development source code is also growing, particularly in the enterprise software market and application development market. IDC estimates that spending on AI applications will grow and exceed $96 billion by 2023, and that at least 90 percent of newly released enterprise applications will contain AI-based embedded features, suggestions, or opinions by 2025.
