Analog Devices are configured with the EVAL-LT3073-AZ evaluation board to evaluate the running of the LT3073. The LT3073 is a 3A, ultra-low noise, high power suppression ratio (PSRR), 45mV drop voltage ultra-fast linear regulator.
The EVAL-LT3073-AZ requires external bias (VBIAS) to be at least 1.2V higher than VOUT and between 2.375V and 5.5V. The ADI LT3073 on the EVAL-LT3073-AZ requires few external components, simplifying the circuit design.
Careful printed circuit board (PCB) design helps optimize noise, PSRR, load transient response, and VOUT adjustment performance. At the same time, the LT3073 requires capacitors for internal reference, power input, BIASF pins, and power output. Internal reference uses 16V, 0805 size, 4.7μF capacitor bypass to reduce output noise and program soft start.
The larger capacitor housing size and higher voltage rating reduce the noise of an otherwise identical capacitor by 1/f. The 22μF capacitor at the output of the circuit is used for high frequency PSRR performance and minimizes VOUT deviation during load transients.
