EnglishWurth Electronics has launched the WE-BMS series of signal transformers for battery management systems, which achieve insulation strength of 4300 VDC/1 min and operating voltage of up to 1000 VDC, suitable for use in energy storage systems, electric bicycles and electric scooters. In addition to the transformer, common-mode inductors are built into the new WE-BMS line of products to filter common-mode noise. Compared with similar products in the market, Wurth Electronics has a longer creepage distance design, but the compact package can provide a 3.45mm height thin model.
As implied in the product code WE-BMS, this series of signal transformers is optimized specifically for battery management systems (BMS). Battery management is used to ensure the reliable operation of the system and provide charging status information. Each battery in the battery pack is connected in series, as is the corresponding BMS controller.
WE-BMS transformers are used to electrically isolate the components and suppress EMI because of voltage differences and electromagnetic interference between serial components or circuit boards. Target markets include energy storage devices such as solar installations and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS). The WE-BMS series meets the AEC-Q200 standard, so it is also suitable for electric vehicles. WE-BMS supports serial Daisy chains, isoSPI, and SPI communication.
