TDK introduces pipe-clamped NTC sensors suitable for electric vehicle heat pump applications
0

TDK launches new B58101A0109A* (HP100) series heat pump sensors. This is an NTC (negative temperature coefficient) sensor designed for automotive applications that indirectly measures the refrigerant temperature in the pipe by measuring the surface temperature of the pipe.

The new element is suitable for harsh operating conditions with a range of features and advantages, such as: pipe clamp design, standard for 12.8mm pipe diameter; Operating temperature range: -40 °C to +150 °C; Water immersion waterproof time up to 500 hours; Response time less than 7 seconds; Meets the AEC-Q200 standard with dielectric strength up to 1250 V AC/10 s (an important standard for electric vehicle applications); The low temperature tolerance at 85 °C nominal temperature is ± 0.3K, which ensures high control accuracy.

The clamp-on design makes the sensor very easy to install and measures the refrigerant temperature without entering the coolant or refrigerant loop, minimizing the risk of leakage. In addition, the sensors are rugged, and typical applications include the measurement of refrigerant temperatures in heat pumps, which are an important part of the thermal management of high-voltage batteries in electric vehicles (BEVs).
