Infineon further expands its fixed-frequency CoolSET portfolio with the introduction of 800V and 950V AC-DC integrated power levels

In addition to improving the performance, efficiency, and reliability of the high-voltage power supply, the number of components and the cost of BOM(bill of materials) must be reduced, and the required design workload must be reduced. To meet these needs, Infineon Technologies has launched the fifth generation Fixed Frequency (FF) CoolSET product portfolio, designed to provide the right key components to optimize design. Infineon's new 800V and 950V AC-DC integrated power level (IPS) products are packaged in DIP-7 to meet the needs of home appliance auxiliary power supplies, AC-DC converters, battery chargers, solar systems, and motor control and drive applications.

The fixed-frequency CoolSETTM solution integrates the PWM controller IC and the latest high-voltage CoolMOS P7 overjunction (SJ) MosFeTs in a single package. The expanded portfolio includes the first power semiconductor device on the market to integrate a 950V avalanche breakdown resistant superjunction MOSFET to support a wider input voltage range. The new device supports both isolated and unisolated topologies, including Flyback and Buck, and can operate at 100 kHz and 65 kHz switching frequencies. Using one device to support both the low system cost Buck and general Purpose Flyback simplifies the customer's supply chain. The integrated error amplifier supports primary side feedback, a characteristic characteristic of non-isolated topologies, which further reduces the number of devices and design complexity.

A downshift mode that integrates soft drive and buffeting frequencies reduces electromagnetic interference and improves efficiency under medium and light load conditions. Continuous on-off mode (CCM) and discontinuous on-off mode (DCM) are supported. Under low voltage input conditions, CCM can reduce on-off loss, thereby improving efficiency and meeting international energy efficiency standards. Integrated MOSFeTs support ultra-wide input voltage ranges such as single-phase smart meters and industrial applications. In addition, the product also helps to optimize the design of the buffer circuit, further improving efficiency and reducing standby power consumption.

All of the new products integrate multiple self-recovery protection features to support the power system through automatic restart in the event of a failure. The improved protection function, coupled with the high breakdown voltage characteristics of the over junction MOSFETs, further improves the power supply stability. In addition, active burst mode (ABM) improves light-load performance and achieves ultra-low standby power consumption, while the output voltage ripple is small and controllable.
