     Diodes introduced two new bit-level retimers in response to the increasing availability of USB Type-C technology and the need for lower power consumption. The PI2DPT1021 and PI2DPT821 products are suitable for laptop and desktop computers, as well as docking stations, computer perimeters, game consoles and active transmission lines. They combine the industry's best power efficiency with modern CPU platforms, smart shapes, and advanced features.

     Each new timepiece has receiver adaptive equalization, which means it can handle both long and short line applications. This feature provides channel loss compensation up to -23dB for transmission at 5GHz, channel loss compensation up to -18dB for transmission at 4.05GHz, and jitter removal without a local reference clock.

     The PI2DPT1021 supports 10Gbps USB3.2 Gen2 and DisplayPort (DP) version 1.4, while the PI2DPT821 supports 8.1Gbps DP1.4 and USB3.2 Gen1 communication protocols. Each product includes a bidirectional high-speed channel that swaps the flow direction of the downlink (DFP) and uplink (UFP) ports. As a result, engineers have greater configuration flexibility in the direction of signal flow. In particular, because of their bidirectional nature, both PI2DPT1021 and PI2DPT821 are suitable for active transmission line implementations, so their end joints are the same and can therefore be treated as DFP or UFP.

     Other key attributes of these new timepieces are ultra-low latency from signal input to output. 1ns) and a wide temperature range (covering 40°C to +85°C), both have I2C programming interfaces. The automatic power saving mode for USB and DP is extremely important to minimize energy consumption. The PI2DPT1021 and PI2DPT821 retimeters are available in a 32-pin QFN package with dimensions of 2.85mm x 4.5mm x 0.45mm.
