EnglishPower Integrations introduces InnoSwitch4-Pro series of digitally controlled off-line constant voltage/constant current Zero voltage Switch (ZVS) flyback ics that dramatically reduce the size of power adapters. These highly integrated devices feature stable and durable PowiGaN gallium nitride primary switches with steady-state switching frequencies up to 140kHz, reducing the number of components and PCB board area required for ultra-compact adapter applications in the mobile phone, laptop, tablet and multi-port accessory markets.

If you use MinE-CAP devices in addition to InnoSwitch4-Pro and ClampZero IC, you can further reduce the size of the adapter. The MinE-CAP IC, also based on PowiGaN technology, reduces the size of the input capacitance by approximately 40%.
The InnoSwitch4-Pro IC delivers up to 220W of power and comes in an ultra-thin InSOP™-28 package. Internal integration of the 750V PowiGaN primary switch, controller, FluxLink reinforced insulated feedback link for secondary side control, I2C interface, active clamp drive and synchronous rectifier. High integration greatly simplifies the development and manufacturing of high efficiency power sources with full numerical control. These digitally controllable flyback ics are designed with ClampZero and MinE-CAP accessories to meet the ultra-compact and thin profile requirements that are much needed in the OEM original, non-original USB PDS and Universal Fast Charge Technical Specification (UFCS) adapter market. UFCS is a new standard issued by the China Communication Standardization Association.
InnoSwitch4-Pro IC uses a unique control method to achieve ZVS in both DCM and CCM. When used with ClampZero IC, the control method can support higher operating frequency without causing a decrease in efficiency. InnoSwitch4-Pro also supports quasi-resonant switching in both DCM and CCM modes when used alone. Optionally, only DCM mode can be used to reduce the voltage stress of SR FET. The new IC also has an optimized command set to reduce the possibility of I2C data congestion.
The InnoSwitch4-Pro flyback IC provides excellent constant voltage/constant current accuracy, is not affected by peripheral components, and has a no-load power consumption of less than 30mW while providing safety and protection features such as input voltage detection. The device is fully protected, providing an automatic restart or latch fault response for output overvoltage and undervoltage protection, as well as multiple output undervoltage fault thresholds, latch or hysteresis primary overtemperature protection, and output bus switch short-circuit protection.
