Diodes used two-channel decoders to automobile specifications for USB PD 3.1 SPR, PPS, and QC protocols

Diodes provide highly integrated dual - channel USB Type-C protocol decoders for the rapid increase of USB charging in cars. The AP43776Q supports USB Power Transfer (PD) 3.1 Standard Power Range (SPR) and Programmable Power Supply (PPS), as well as the Quick Charge™ QC5 Fast Charge protocol. The product also supports older battery charging (BC) 1.2, which optimizes the performance of multi-port car USB charging systems.
The AP43776Q is built into a microcontroller unit (MCU) with a 12kB disposable programmable (OTP) ROM and multiple programmable (MTP) ROM resource tool. Each PD 3.1 port can fully comply with PPS specifications, with output voltage range from 3.3V to 21V. Each step is adjusted to 20mV and 50mA, which can realize independent charging output voltage and further optimize power consumption.
The charging system uses I2C interface, as well as DC to DC controller and converter, which is conducive to the communication between chips, can simplify the control loop, and reduce the overall component cost. The two AP43776Q devices can be linked through the UART interface, so the whole set of four USB ports have the opportunity to achieve smart power sharing. In addition to managing the power coordination connection, the AP43776Q detects the USB Type-C alternative mode and drives the appropriate USB/DP multiplexer, so DisplayPort™ signals can be transmitted using USB-C
This feature allows video data to be transferred online via the system's USB.AP43776Q meets AEC-Q100 Grade 1 specification, is manufactured in an IATF 16949 certified facility and supports PPAP, Use a 20-connector W-QFN4040 Side soldable package format (size 4mm x 4mm).
