Bourns is expanding its new line of gas discharge tubes (GDTS) with a new line of 3-pole surface mount products. The Bourns GDT35 series offers more powerful and faster response components, symbolizing Bourns' continued setting the standard for breakthrough overvoltage arresters' performance and significantly improving the level of protection against voltage transients caused by lightning or accidental contact with AC power lines.
The Bourns 3-pole GDT is designed with patented advanced computer simulation technology to achieve a low impulse impulse discharge component design, which significantly reduces the pressure on downstream components. This feature enables designers to select smaller downstream components with lower voltage ratings and helps reduce their overall material costs. The new GDT35 series features excellent current handling capabilities, compact shape and a unique coplanar fit that enables the GDT component to switch in either direction until a three-point contact is established. In addition, the GDT35 series is a direct alternative to the Bourns standard 2036-SM GDT series.
Low capacitance and low insertion loss make the new series an ideal solution for protecting industrial equipment and high-speed information and communication technology (ICT) systems. In addition, the Bourns® GDT35 series has a wide operating temperature range from -55 °C to +125 °C, making it the best choice for applications operating in extreme environmental conditions.
