Infineon Technologies' CYUSBS236 USB Serial Development Kit (DVK) is an easy-to-use kit that demonstrates the features of the Infineon CY7C65215 USB Serial Bridge controller. The CYUSBS236 development kit was developed to help evaluate the features of the CY7C65215 dual channel USB Serial Bridge controller. DVK provides two brazed pads on the PCB to test CAPSENSE™ features, two pairs of EEPROMs to test the I²C and SPI interfaces, and two RS232 line drivers to test the UART interface.

     The USB Serial Bridge Controller family is the latest addition to Infineon's Full Speed USB controller family. The CY7C65215 is the industry's first controller to provide a dual-channel configurable serial channel for the UART/I²C/SPI interface, with the industry's lowest standby power consumption (5µA). The CY7C65215 is the first full speed USB serial bridge controller to offer a dual channel configurable serial interface (UART/I²C/SPI). The controller also features battery charge detection (BCD) logic and capacitive touch sensing, which can be implemented at 5 µA of low-hang current. The controller comes in a 5 mm x 5 mm, 32 pin QFN package to meet the size requirements of portable devices.

     The USB Serial Bridge controller family is ideal for portable medical device applications such as glucose meters, POS terminals, serial cables including USB to UART and RS232 cables, and many other applications that require a USB connection.
