Texas Instruments' TMAG5231 is a second-generation low-power Hall Effect switching sensor designed to optimize the total system cost for compact battery-powered consumer and industrial applications. When the applied flux density exceeds the operating point (BOP) threshold, the device outputs a low voltage. The output remains low until the flux density drops below the release point (BRP), at which point the device outputs a high voltage.

     The all-pole magnetic response allows the output to be sensitive to the north-south magnetic field. The TMAG5231 can operate at very low current consumption. To achieve a current consumption of 2μA, the device switches the circuit internally at a frequency of 20 Hz. The TMAG5231 uses the industry standard SOT-23 package and pin allocation. The device operates in the VCC range of 1.65 V to 5.5 V, and the temperature range is -40°C to +125°C.
