Infineon's magnetic sensors provide reliable current measurements throughout their life cycle without recalibration
0
The TLE4972 is a precision miniature coreless magnetic current sensor for AC and DC measurements with analog interfaces and two fast overcurrent detection outputs. Infineon's sophisticated and powerful monolithic Hall technology enables accurate and highly linear measurement of magnetic fields caused by electric currents. The full range is up to ±31 mT and can measure current up to 2000 amps. All the negative effects normally associated with an open-loop sensor using flux concentration technology (e.g., saturation, hysteresis) can be avoided.

The sensor was developed in accordance with the functional safety standard ISO 26262 and comes with internal self-diagnostic capabilities. Typical applications are electrical drives, on-board chargers, battery master switches, power supplies, and overload and overcurrent detection in high-voltage applications. The TLE4972 digital assisted analog concept provides superior stability in temperature and longevity thanks to Infineon's proprietary digital stress and temperature compensation.

The principle of differential measurement allows for great suppression of stray fields when operating in harsh environments. The sensor comes in two packages to support a wide range of different system integration scenarios. Two independent overcurrent detection pins (OCDs) provide a fast output signal in case the measured current exceeds the configuration threshold within a typical 0.7µs. The sensor ships as a pre-calibrated product that delivers accurate performance at temperature and pressure. The TLE4972 has in situ calibration capability to achieve maximum accuracy at the system level. High configurability can be customized for a wide variety of applications.
