Silicon Motion's single-chip solid-state drives (SSDS) provide high performance and data protection for mission-critical applications

     Silicon Motion's PCIe NVMe FerriSSD consists of a SM689 that supports third-generation PCIe x4 NVMe 1.3 and a SM681 that supports third-generation PCIe x2 NVMe 1.3. It is designed for high-performance mission-critical applications. PCIe NVMe FerriSSD integrates industry-proven controller technology, NAND flash, and passive components into a small BGA package, significantly simplifying design efforts and reducing product time to market while avoiding NAND technology migration issues.

     The SM689 supports embedded dynamic random access memory (DRAM) with data redundancy and third-generation PCIe x4 interfaces with continuous read speeds of up to 1.45 Gbps and continuous write speeds of up to 650 Mbps. The SM681 achieves the best balance of low cost and high performance by eliminating DRAM while maintaining DRAm-like performance through the host memory buffer (HMB). They all offer 3D three-stage cell (TLC), multistage cell (MLC), and single-stage cell (SLC) modes.

     The uniquely flexible design supports multiple capacity configurations ranging from 4 GB to 256 GB, and includes enterprise-class, advanced data integrity, and reliability capabilities using Silicon Motion's proprietary end-to-end data protection, error correction code (ECC), and data caching technologies.
