TDK introduces a hybrid polymer capacitor with significantly enhanced ripple current capability

     TDK introduces B40640B*/B40740B* series polymer hybrid capacitors with significantly enhanced ripple current capability. Using mixed polymer technology, the new device has 29% more ripple current capacity than previous models, up to 35 A (20 kHz, 125 °C), rated voltage of 63 V, capacitance range of 390 µF to 720 µF, and ultra-low equivalent series resistance (ESR). Capacitors with a case size of 16 mm x 30 mm (diameter x H) have an ESR of 3.9 mΩ at 20 kHz and 20 °C, and only 5.4 mΩ even at ultra-low operating temperatures of -40 °C.

     The new family of components is robust and can withstand strong vibration up to 60 g and operating temperatures up to 150 °C. With special structural design and efficient heat sink performance, the new components can achieve ultra-low thermal resistance. In addition, the axial design ensures a stable connection to the radiator throughout its service life. The new components range in size from 14 mm x 25 mm to 16 mm x 30 mm (diameter x height), depending on capacitance. All components are RoHS compliant and are available in axial lead type (B40640B*) and Solder Star type (B40740B*), as well as with and without PET sleeve options.
