NXP's I2C-bus Fm+ provides a digital temperature sensor and thermal monitoring with 1 degree maximum C accuracy

NXP Semiconductors PCT2075 is a temperature-to-digital converter. It has ±1°C max accuracy over -25°C to +100°C range and ±2°C max accuracy over +55°C to +125°C range. It uses an on-chip bandgap temperature sensor and sigma-delta A to D conversion technology with an overtemperature detection output and is an alternative to other LM75 series thermal sensors. The device contains many data registers: configuration registers (Conf) to store device Settings such as device mode of operation, OS mode of operation, OS polarity, OS fault queue.

The temperature registers (Temp) store digital temperature readings, the set point registers (Tos and Thyst) store programmable overtemperature shutdown and hysteria limits, and the programmable temperature sensor sampling time (Tidle) can communicate with the controller through the 2-wire serial I2C bus Fast Mode Plus (Fm+) interface.

The PCT2075 can be configured for different operating conditions. It can be set in normal mode to regularly monitor ambient temperature or in off mode to reduce power consumption. The overtemperature shutdown (OS) output can work in interrupt or comparison mode, allowing fast and flexible system control based on overtemperature or thermal runaway conditions.
