Texas Instruments' UCC28065 interlaced PFC controller is capable of converting mode PFCS at higher power ratings than before. The device uses natural interlacing technology to maintain a 180° phase shift. These two channels operate as the master channel (no slave channel) synchronized with the same frequency. This approach allows for faster response times, accurate phase offsets, and conversion mode operations.

     The unit has a burst mode function for high light load efficiency. Burst mode eliminates the need to shut down the PFC to meet standby power targets during light load operation, eliminating the need for auxiliary flyback converters when paired with UCC25640x LLC controllers and UCC24612 or UCC24624 synchronous rectifier controllers. Frequency clamping doubles switching frequency capability compared to previous devices. The increased switching frequency range enables designs to take advantage of GaN MosFeTs such as LMG3410 and SiC MosFeTs.
