Analog Devices' LTC2672 5-channel, low-dropout, 3-mA to 300-mA current source outputs 16-bit SoftSpan DAC

The LTC2672 from Analog Devices provides high performance, low noise, power efficient currents for current bias applications, simplifying the system signal chain. The LTC2672 eliminates the need for users to build and calibrate discrete driver solutions, increasing development time and cost while reducing the size of the solution.

The LTC2672-16 is a 5-channel, 16-bit current source, digital-to-analog converter (DAC) that provides five highly compliant current source outputs with a guaranteed 600mv drop at 200 mA. There are eight current ranges, each channel programmable, with full-size output up to 300 mA. Channels can be paralleled, allowing ultra-fine adjustment of large currents or combined outputs up to 1.5 A. Each output channel has a dedicated supply pin. Each channel can be operated from 2.1V to V(CC), with an internal switch allowing any output to be pulled to an optional negative power supply.

The LTC2672-16 includes a precision integrated 1.25V reference (10 ppm/°C maximum) with the option to use an external reference. Compatible with Serial Peripheral interface (SPI), 3-wire serial interface has logic levels as low as 1.71 V and clock rates as high as 50 MHz.
