The Texas Instruments LM74500-Q1 is an automotive AEC-Q100 compliant controller that works in conjunction with an external n-channel MOSFET as a low loss reverse polarity protection solution. A wide power supply input range of 3.2V to 65V can control the DC bus voltage of automobile battery system such as 12v, 24v and 48v. The 3.2V input voltage support is particularly suited to the harsh cold crank requirements of automotive systems. The device can withstand and protect loads from negative supply voltage drops to -65 V.

     The LM74500-Q1 has no reverse current blocking and is suitable for load input reverse polarity protection that can potentially return energy to input power sources such as body control module motor loads. The LM74500-Q1 controller provides charge pump gate drive for an external n-channel MOSFET. The high voltage class simplifies the design of automotive ISO7637 protection system. With the enable pin low, the controller is off and draws about 1µA of current, providing low system current when in sleep mode.
