The Texas Instruments TPS22919 device is a small, single-channel load switch with a controllable conversion rate. The device contains an n-channel MOSFET that operates in the input voltage range of 1.6 V to 5.5 V and can support a maximum continuous current of 1.5 a. The on state of the switch is controlled by a digital input, which can be directly connected to the low-voltage control signal. When the power supply is first applied, a smart drop down is used to keep the ON pins from floating until the system sort is complete. Once the pin is deliberately pushed up (> V(IH)), the smart drop down will disconnect to prevent unnecessary power loss.

     The TPS22919 load switch will protect itself against output short circuit events. The converter has a thermal shutdown function to prevent any damage from overheating. The TPS22919 is packaged in a standard SC-70 package and can operate in the junction temperature range from -40°C to +125°C.
