     Diodes announced the ideal diode controller for protecting systems from reverse discharges. The DZDH0401DW controller drives a P-channel MOSFET to simulate an ideal diode, providing the high-side rail insulation needed to block reverse current in systems up to 40V. Its compact size and excellent performance make it particularly suitable for cordless power tools and automatic household/garden appliances such as smart vacuum cleaners and smart lawn mowers. The device is also ideal for other applications, including hot plug for data center servers and OR-ing rectifiers in N+1 backup power supplies.

     By pairing the DZDH0401DW with a low-on-resistance MOSFET, designers can utilize much lower power consumption than Schottky diode solutions, especially for high-power applications. Increased efficiency reduces thermal management costs and improves system reliability. DZDH0401DW in this configuration detects power input disconnection and drives the MOSFET into the off state to isolate any backflow paths and maintain system stability.

     The complete reverse discharge protection solution consists of a controller, a MOSFET, and two resistors. The simple yet sophisticated configuration minimizes design effort and is an ideal solution for deployment in space-constrained designs. DIODES DZDH0401DW come in a SOT363 package (size 2.15mm x 2.1mm x 1mm).
