TDK has introduced the new PCM120T series of shielded SMT power inductors. PCM inductors are specially optimized for high saturation current and low DC resistance applications. The PCM120T series can provide 14 inductance values ranging from 0.4 μH to 10 μH, with saturation current up to 80 A, depending on the inductance value L.

     The new element has many features and advantages, such as: metal alloy core to obtain excellent saturation characteristics; The flat winding structure minimizes the loss, with low resistance (RDC) of 0.72 mΩ (0.4 μH) to 9 mΩ (10 μH); The shell adopts a shielded sealed magnetic core, no external air gap, and has excellent EMC performance around the inductor. Lead frame structure, very suitable for automatic solder joint AOI detection, and the realization of < 0.1mm coplanar; Metal alloy core with good insulation, can withstand high voltage pulse (meet ISO7636 standard).

     The new family of compact components is only 12.7 x 15.8 x 11.5 mm (width x length x height) and has a wide operating temperature range from -55 °C to +165 °C, meeting the requirements of the RoHS directive and achieving AEC-Q200 certification.

     The PCM120T family of components is suitable for a wide range of applications, typically including primary DC/DC converters in automotive applications such as ADAS, power supplies for servers and base stations, and various types of DC/DC converters. It is also ideal for a variety of interference suppression applications such as automotive motors.
