SiTime announced the introduction of the SiTime XCalibur active resonator. By using programmable semiconductors, this innovative product can directly replace quartz crystal resonators, thus solving the problem of supply chain constraints. In addition, XCalibur can also provide better performance and reliability in addition to reducing the development time of automotive, enterprise and industrial applications by up to two months.
Piyush Sevalia, Executive Vice President of SiTime Marketing, said: "SiTime's product portfolio includes many unique solutions that can provide value to customers. We will continue this tradition by developing new MEMS based active resonators and creating a $200 million SAM for SiTime in the $4 billion resonator market. With the programmable ability to simultaneously use a semiconductor supply chain that is independent of quartz, our new XCalibur active resonator solves the problem of Goods problems. In addition, quartz resonators were once notorious because they faced a series of design challenges and needed more testing and development, which would eventually delay the project progress. XCalibur solves these challenges by providing a more reliable, flexible, and very easy to implement direct alternative. "
Quartz resonators have some well-known weaknesses, such as being vulnerable to strong EMI field interference, negative resistance should be tested every design layout cycle, and each frequency should be certified. After using the XCalibur active resonator, customers can completely avoid startup problems or EMI problems, and do not need to send the circuit board to the quartz manufacturer for negative resistance testing. In addition, customers can implement new frequencies in the same design without re authenticating the resonator. All of the above advantages will help customers speed up the launch of their products.
The reliability of SiTime Xcalibur active resonator is 10 times higher than that of quartz resonator, which is an ideal choice for automotive and industrial applications requiring high reliability and long service life in harsh environments. This MEMS based resonator can also be used in communications and networks, enterprises, consumer electronics, mobile and Internet of Things, as well as aerospace and national defense applications.
